There are many dubious organisations/foundations in India which claim to teach JKD. They have JKD websites showing a long Instructor list. They claim to belong to world JKD organisations. Many have been certified by buying JKD DVDs on the net without any hands on training in JKD. Some claim to have converted from traditional martial arts to JKD after sudden inspiration; Many say they teach JKD without any formal training in JKD, since according to Lee, “JKD is not a style but each mans own unique way, expression or style!” Others claim to have learnt under unknown teachers. Many have Wing Chun lineage unrelated to JKD. Others have only done 1 day seminars under Original students. Against the spirit of JKD, they hold competitions, give belts & uniforms & teach kata. They market Karate as JKD. They claim to be Govt regd. We dont recognize or recommend them.
There are also some federations in the world who claim lineage to legendary Lee without learning from any original student. They sell JKD certifications along with training DVDs and certify seekers for a sizable sum of money. In our opinion they are to be avoided.
