AIJH is the organisation with the aim of regulating Jeet Kune Do in India.
AIJH was born in 2015 to educate the public about authentic JKD art, legitimate JKD schools & genuine JKD instructors. AIJH also aims at providing authentic JKD training to those who seek it.
What is JKD
Jeet Kune Do or JKD is the martial art founded by the legendary Bruce Lee, the martial arts movie super star and perhaps the world’s greatest fighter of all time. It means “The Way of the Intercepting Fist” because it believes in interception over and above defence and counter. Basically it means doing away with the unessential.
After Enter the Dragon, the world desired to learn Bruce Lees art JKD. But Lee had ordered all JKD schools to be closed down as he did not want JKD to be commercialised, so JKD was unavailable and unheard of. The world thought Karate was Bruce Lee’s art and thus karate became popular all over.
How is JKD different?
JKD is NOT Japanese Karate. JKD is an American Chinese art derived from Boxing, Fencing & Wing Chun. JKD is NOT Chinese Wing Chun as JKD was developed because Lee felt Wing Chun was too limited.
Is JKD same as MMA? What is it made of?
Jeet Kune Do is a type of Mixed Martial Art. Bruce Lee is considered as father of MMA.
Who is an Authentic JKD Instructor?
An authentic JKD Instructor is one whose teacher has learnt from Bruce Lee or his Original students. This is called Lineage to legendary Lee. The lineage has to be endorsed by a Instructor certificate. (Apprentice, Associate, Full Instructor, Senior or Master Instructor) which has to be displayed.
The generation also matters. Dan inosanto, Richard Bustillo, Ted Wong, Taky Kimura & James Yim Lee were first generation. Their students are second generation students. Upto five generations ensures minimal dilution of passed down JKD skills. AIJH houses 2nd generation instructors.
